A loan of $1,250 helped to buy farming supplies for her coffee crop.

Yenis Xiomara's story

Yenis is 25 years old with all of her youth ahead of her to achieve her dreams and goals and to be someone in life. She and her partner have a son who is only a few months old. She has four years of primary education, which she was able to get thanks to her parents' effort and support, as they had few economic resources. They were the ones who taught her to work the land and grow corn, beans, and coffee, and this family tradition is why she has a lot of experience. She and her partner inherited the land they work from a relative; it is 2 km from their home and they visit it on foot daily to tend to it and maintain it.

Yenis has asked the COMIXMUL Cooperative for financing to buy supplies that will protect their coffee crops from insect pests, among other things that damage the harvest.

She plans to be able to buy a little more land so she can to grow more coffee or other staple crops that will help generate income for her family and her household. Her goal is to save up some money little by little for her son to go to school so that when the day comes his education will not be a problem.
