Elsa's story

Elsa is 37 years old, married, and a hard-worker who gets up fighting every single day to carry out her daily tasks. Her work starts with preparing meals for her three children who go to school, and then later, with her husband, she focuses on raising coffee to make their living. She has three years of primary education, but couldn't do any more as her parents could not economically support it. Her parents were the ones who taught her from a young age to work the land and grow corn, beans, and coffee above all, the latter crop being the only one that earns her family income. The land that she and her husband work is theirs thanks to a family inheritance, and it is located fifteen minutes from the road.

Elsa visited the COMIXMUL cooperative looking for financing, which she will use to purchase supplies that will help her in raising and growing coffee. Her goal is to be able to purchase these supplies and protect her crops, as all of the family's necessities depend on the coffee harvest being secure and free from disease. Her dream is to be able to support her children in their studies so that they can grow up and become professionals and have the tools they need to be life-long entrepreneurs.
