Carmen's story

Carmen is 46 years old. She is a humble woman. She lives with her husband Juvenal and their 5 children. She cares for them in a house she bought 20 years ago. Carmen works with livestock. She lives in an area with rich vegetation and for years her parents taught her the best practices for raising livestock and producing milk. Right now, this is her main economic activity. She owns 5 cows and 14 sheep that she cares for with a lot of hard work and dedication. She makes cheese every day with the milk they produce. Now she wants to continue improving her animals, because her secret is feeding them with natural grass and feed concentrate, deworming them and checking to see if they have good milk production. This is her fourth loan with Kiva and she is grateful for the financial support she is receiving to get ahead. That is why she is committed to making her payments on time. Carmen will invest the S/.300 soles in buying sheep, to increase her livestock.
