Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $500 helped to buy a batch of chicks.

Daniel's story

Daniel, who lives in Malindi, Kenya, has a poultry farm and earns additional income from teaching. As a farmer, he faces the challenges of competition and disease outbreaks. Poultry diseases are usually contagious, and a farmer might end up losing every other chick unless great care is taken. Daniel's ambition is to grow the business to the point that he can supply the whole town.

Daniel learned about Milango through an employee and decided to join to obtain credit. The recipient of a previous loan since repaid, he is now requesting a new one to increase his number of chicks. The loan will improve Daniel's business and his family's standard of living.
