A loan of $425 helped to buy beer, soft drinks, and snacks.

Jonis's story

Jonis, 57 years old, works by selling drinks, cold drinks, snacks and "bollos" (dough from corn put inside corn leaves). Jonis lives with his family on the seashore, where the heat and tourism enable the sale of drinks in this hot area. He has had this business for four years, when his neighbors suggested that he sell beer and drinks. He started with one case of each product and slowly increased his sales. He sells up to 10 cases of beer and drinks per week to his neighbors and passersby. He works from 8am until 8pm.

His goal is to sell all kinds of supplies and finish remodeling his home, in addition to building customer loyalty and increasing the volume of his sales. He is currently applying for a Kiva loan, which is the first time he is financing through Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo. With the loan, he will buy beer, drinks, and snacks. He will buy directly from the truck, which eliminates indirect selling costs. This will make his Kiva credit a success.
