A loan of $325 helped to buy small chicks.

Babita's story

Babita is 36 years old. She is married and has two children, ages 17 and 19. In 2004, she established her poultry business. Working seven days a week and four hours a day, she supports her family. She has already received and successfully repaid five loans from Patan BPW: her most recent loan was used to buy small chicks for her business.

In the Kathmandu Valley, raising poultry for eggs and meat is a very profitable business. Kiva loans are used to purchase chicks, food, and necessary medicine to keep the chickens healthy. Once matured, the chickens are sold at small butcher shops or in the many open air markets throughout the valley.

In the future, Babita plans to uplift the economic condition of her family. She thanks you for your support.
