A loan of $625 helped to purchase general merchandise and live hogs.

Sara Raquel's story

Sara Raquel is 28 years old, single and has a young child. She was born in one of the municipalities of northern Chinandega.

Sara owns two types of businesses. One is buying and selling general merchandise. She buys items in Managua to sell to regular customers in outdoor markets. She provides customers with a variety of products and accepts cash or credit, collecting payments biweekly.

She also owns a business selling live hogs. She started this business through her own efforts and with the assistance of her sister who was already familiar with this type of business. She buys them from neighbouring regions, paying cash, and sells them to traders who come to the region.

One of her dreams is to build her own home since she lives in her relative's house, and to give her young son a brighter future. She would also like to see him become a professional.

This loan will be invested in both businesses, because the demand has increased and she does not have sufficient capital to supply the orders.
