A loan of $1,050 helped a member to buy small tools, seeds and agricultural inputs.

Djekafo 4 Group's story

The eight members of the Djekafo 4 group are all married women who live in traditional families. On average, they are 30 years old and have three children each. They all live in the village of Sirakorobougou, in the Ségou region (fourth administrative region of Mali). They know one another through their farming activities during the rainy season, and also through neighborhood, marriage and family ties within the village. They grow millet, groundnut and rice.

The members of the group have joined Soro Yiriwaso in order to buy small tools and agricultural inputs. This is their third cycle of farming loan.

Yah (standing second from the right in the photo) is a very active farmer during the rainy season in the village of Sirakorobougou. She plans to use her loan to plow her field, to buy seeds and fertilizers and then to pay some young people to weed her field.

She sells her crops for cash at the end of the rainy season and this allows her to repay her loan and have enough revenues to take care of her children and, to some extent, of her family.

In this group: Yah, Yama, Kadia Y, Koumba, Rokiatou, Konimba, Hawa A, Djognini
