Shazia's Group's story

Shazia is a 36-year-old woman living in a remote area of Rawalpindi, Pakistan. She has 3 children and her husband is working as a carpenter. The monthly income of her husband is insufficient to meet the household expenses due to the large family size, therefore Shazia is helping her husband by doing her own business. She has been successfully running her business of selling ornamental items for 8 years. Shazia is a member of a two-person group and she has requested a loan from Kiva’s partner BRAC Pakistan to expand her business. She would purchase a large quantity and new varieties of bangles, bracelets, necklaces, key chains and other ornamental items and sell them at profit. This could increase her sales, monthly income and savings, and she could support her family in better way. She is raising her hand in the picture.
