A loan of $3,750 helped a member to buy maize and beans for resale.

Buhumuriro Group's story

The story is for Gabriel--the gentle man with a book in the hand at the front.

Gabriel is 38, married, and has 6 children. He lives in rural Kagadi. He is a farmer and trader buying mainly maize and beans as his major source of income. He also grows coffee and tomatoes as an additional source of income to look after his family.

Gabriel wants a loan of 1,000,000 Uganda Shillings (UGX) to add into his produce trade business so that he can get more returns from the business this season. It's now the harvest season and yet his income is low; he believes if he invests the money from the loan his returns will be high. His dream is to buy a motor vehicle to ease the transportation of his produce to the market and reduce the cost of hiring, therefore increasing profit.

However, Gabriel is always challenged by the limited capital in his business as well as the price fluctuations for agricultural products on the market. He is a hard working man who is committed to seeing his fellow group members' livelihoods transformed.
