A loan of $500 helped to buy corn, cheese, cinnamon and firewood.

Ana Azucena's story

Ana is 28 years old. She lives in the city of Leon and is the mother of 2 children, aged 3 and 6. She works making and selling cosa de horno (bread made from corn, cinnamon and sugar). She has been doing this for 4 years. Her first experience as a merchant was selling tortillas. Later she started to make cosa de horno. Her mother taught her how to prepare it and give it that special flavor. Little by little, she has gained customers. Part of what she makes she sells from her home and the other part is distributed by street vending. That is how she brings in income to support he family.

Today she is asking for the loan to buy corn, cheese, cinnamon and firewood. This is part of the raw materials she needs to make her product. One of her plans for the future is to have a bigger oven and save up to own her own home.
