A loan of $1,275 helped to convert her vehicle from gasoline to natural gas.

Celina's story

Celina is a hardworking woman of 38. She has lived for two years in her rented house. Her family is made up of herself, her husband, Fortunato, and her three children, who she cares for with much affection. Her principal work activity is public transport. Her husband recently acquired his own car, with which they transport passengers who want to go to other locations. Their work is very taxing; sometimes there are days when they make several trips that last many hours. "I have to work very hard, especially on Fridays when there is a fair, because people need to go down to the city," she says.

Now, she is hoping to change the fuel system in her car to an environmentally-friendly one: natural gas. She is certain that she will complete this project, because that way she will be able to earn a better income and her vehicle will not suffer much wear. This is her second loan with Kiva, and she feels grateful for the financial support that she is receiving to help her get ahead. Because of this, she is committed to being on time with her payments.

Celina will invest the 3500 Peruvian Nuevos Soles in the conversion of her car from gasoline to natural gas. After this, she will be able to save up more money, earn a higher income, and preserve the planet.
