A loan of $625 helped to purchase beverages, especially soft drinks.

Franklin's story

Franklin is 43 years old and has had his business for three years. He started it when he was thinking about a way to earn income and realized he could do this work and achieve good results. So in 2009 he started his small refreshment stand, and today, with a lot of hard work and dedication he has been able to prosper. He sells directly to customers on cash and credit from Thursday to Sunday and on holidays. His schedule is from 8 a.m. until midnight. He makes his purchases directly from delivery trucks, and his main customers are his neighbors, who enjoy very cold beverages to cool themselves from the incessant heat of the Colombian Caribbean. His goal for the future is to save so he can establish a bigger place for his business in order to generate more income and to better support his children and provide them with a quality education. He is requesting a Kiva loan, his first through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, to purchase baskets of refreshments, especially soft drinks. The loan will give him the ability to make purchases on a bigger scale since he will have more capital, and that will make this investment a success.
