A loan of $550 helped to buy two cows of a good breed.

Casilda's story

Casilda, 56 years old, is a very happy woman who lives with her husband, Antonio, and their four children. They live in a house the family bought many years ago. Casilda makes a living raising livestock and farming. She is currently raising cows, sheep, and llamas. Casilda, with much dedication, takes very good, watchful care of her animals. She says, "I spend most of my time in the pasture with my animals in the highlands where they can graze on natural pasture. That's why they are good quality animals. I spend weeks at a time up there and bring what I need to eat."

Each day, Casilda also makes cheese, thanks to the milk that the animals produce. She comments that she also grows some crops, but in small quantities. Raising animals is the activity that provides most of her income, especially selling quality cheeses.

This is Casilda's fourth Kiva loan. She feels very grateful for the financial support she has received, so she pledges to be punctual with her repayments. Casilda will invest the 1500 Peruvian soles in the purchase of two cows of a good breed.
