A loan of $575 helped buy a lot of fish as well as chicken.

José Alfredo's story

José, 25 years old, lives in the city of Cartagena where he sells fish, a business with which is generates income to sustain his family, composed of his wife and small daughter, who is one year old. Before starting to work independently, he helped his father in the same business. He sells the seafood face-to-face as well as through orders placed by what are now his steady customers. Jose sells on cash and on credit from 8 am to 2 pm daily. His main customers are clients who are familiar with the freshness and quality of the fish that Jose sells, and they place their orders. Because of this, Jose's goal for the future is to establish a shop and meat market because his greatest dream of prosperity is to make improvements to his home, and surely this dream will come to pass. Currently, Jose is requesting a Kiva loan, his first loan from Kiva partner Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo. He will use it to purchase a lot of fish as well as chicken because he will sell chicken since he is going to start offering this product again because he is very familiar with it. With this plan, his business' sales will grow because this is exactly the success of a Kiva loan that is well invested.
