A loan of $1,000 helped to buy laminate and to change her home's leaky roof, and to expand the paving.

Martha Alicia's story

Matha is 58. She is a single mother of six. For several years she has made and sold food, including pupusas [a thick corn tortilla stuffed with cheese, fried pork rind, chicken, or refried beans], lunches, etc. She has also sold flowers for several years. She learned her work from her parents. She gets up at 5:00 am with her children to prepare the food that she will sell at lunch time. Later, her children go to school. In the afternoons, she prepares the ingredients for making pupusas. This generates an income to support her family; she is both father and mother to all her children.
This loan, which she is requesting from Fundación Campo, is for the purchase of laminate and to change the leaky roof in her home. She will also expand the paved area where her customers eat. With this improvement to her home, she will attract more customers, and this will generate her more income to sustain her family.
In the future she plans to provide her children with a university education and to see them become professionals.
