Mariatu's story

Meet 35-year-old Mariatu from Jui eastern area in Sierra Leone. She is married with two children, 3 years and 6 years old. Over the past five years, Mariatu has established her general merchandise business. She began her business because she wanted to improve her standard of living. She works at the business 12 hours per day and 7 days per week. She says that the main challenges to her business are price fluctuations and transportation costs.

Mariatu requires a loan in order to purchase more cigarettes, soft drinks and sugar for resale. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to repay her loan and increase her business. In the future, Mariatu plans to open a food store. She thanks you for your support.
