A loan of $850 helped to buy natural products, shoes, sheets, etc.

Flor Virginia's story

The “Productivo” (Productive) communal bank meets every 15 days in Montecristi Canton known for its rich pre-colonial culture and for its crafts that are famous nationally and internationally; it’s where the famous straw hats come from.

Flor, 56, lives here. Her husband died several years ago but she has four adult children two of which still live with her.

Besides being a great mother, Flor also sells Garden (natural products) products in addition to sheets and shoes by catalog. She sells door to door. At each place she goes she shows her magazines to show her customers and make sales. She has many customers especially for the natural products. She’s been in this line of work for more than 14 years and it makes it possible for her to get ahead especially after her husband’s death.

She will use this loan to buy natural products, shoes, sheets and other products she sells. She’s been in the communal bank for three years and likes it because of the help the loans provide. Her goal is to continue forward with her business and that her family life continues.
