A loan of $1,350 helped to buy inputs to maintain her coffee plants.

Teresa's story

Teresa is a 37 year old married woman and the mother of three children. She is in charge of the home and is a farmer. She has 6 years of primary education but couldn't continue because her parents couldn't support her economically. They taught her to work with the land and very early in her life she learned how to raise corn, beans and rice, but was most dedicated to coffee. This business has been done through generations in her family and is a tradition that has been the medium of income for her and to sustain her children. Now she has requested a loan from COMIXMUL to buy inputs to maintain her coffee plants, which can be vulnerable to pest exposure due to weather changes. Her future plans are to cultivate a large area of land to be able to generate income for her home and her family, and also to be able to reinvest in her plants, giving them more detailed, better and more secure care. Her dream is to see her children graduate from the university and be able to suppor them until the end when they achieve their dreams and goals.
