A loan of $550 helped a member to pay for plowing fees and to buy potash for her crop.

Kosal's Group's story

A young married mother in late 20s, Kosal is a resident from Ek Phnom district of Battambang Province. She has two children who are currently in school. She strives for a living through 1 hectare of rice farming as the core income-generating activity and catches fish for resale as the supplementary income. She has occupied this business for five years, earning about 20,000 KHR (Cambodian riels) per day.

This is the fourth cycle loan for Kosal with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). After the successful past loan, which she has fully repaid, she managed to support her living conditions better than before. Now, she forms a group of two female members to apply for a new loan. She and her joint member are seeking 1,000,000 KHR and 1,200,000 KHR, respectively. As the leader, she will use her portion to pay for plowing fees and to buy potash for her crop. She hopes that she can boost her crop productivity, so she can make income to expand her business on a larger scale.
