A loan of $500 helped a member to buy seeds and fertilizers for her farmland.

Samart's Group's story

Samart is a 43-year-old villager from a rural area located in the Battambang province’s Moung Russey district. She is 43 years old and married with five children, two of whom are dependents and still in school. She earns a living through raising pigs. Currently, she keeps five pigs, while her husband patches tires and cleans motors for a fee. Together, they can earn about KHR 35,000 per day from the current business and can save about KHR 20,000 each day for future needs. Samart has been with VisionFund for two cycles. She completely paid back the past loans which have helped better support her family. Now leading her group to apply for a loan, Samart wants to use her portion to buy seeds and fertilizers for her farmland. She hopes this loan will enable her to grow her rice on time so as to improve her standard of living.
