Konomoqua Group's story

Sarah is the featured leader of this group of entrepreneurs. Sarah was born in Gbenseh in eastern Sierra Leone. She is married to a welder and the couple has 3 children, 2 of whom are attending primary and secondary schools, respectively. For 4 years now, Sarah has been selling ready-to-wear clothes, “Bamako” clothes (clothes tie-dyed in Mali) and “gara” clothes (locally dyed clothes).

This is the first loan that Sarah and her group members have applied for from SMT/Kiva lenders. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their respective businesses, make more sales, and consequently improve their living conditions. Sarah is going to use her share of the loan to buy ready-to-wear, Bamako, and gara clothes in larger quantities to add to her business.
