Heng's Group's story

Heng, age 54 and a widow, is a citizen from the Kror Kor district of Pursat province. She has three children, two of whom are helping the family’s businesses. Heng makes a living by farming one and half hectares of rice as her primary business. She earns supplemental income by selling Cambodian noodles and catching fish for resale. The businesses she has operated for 12 years earns her about 19,700 KHR per day. She is a seven-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Her past loans have been fully repaid, enabling her to provide sufficient food for her kids. Now, Heng leads a group of five to apply for a new loan. As the leader, she will use a portion of her loan to buy fishing equipment and to fix her boat. She believes that she can triple her income so as she can upgrade her lifestyle even better than before.
