A loan of $1,100 helped to buy rice, oil by the gallon, noodles, etc.

Juan Jose's story

Juan is 32 years old. He is the father of a 2-year-old boy who he loves to pieces. He would like to provide his son with better opportunities than the ones he had himself. Owing to his family's lack of money, Juan was only able to study up to the fifth year of his secondary education. However, he would have liked to have studied for a management degree.

Juan works every day as a security guard. Through his work he is able to cover his household expenses. He works around 9 hours a day and believes that he is doing well in his work because he is very responsible.

Juan is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, thanks to their help, he will be able to buy merchandise such as rice, oil by the gallon, noodles, etc. and thereby support his mom in setting up a business selling groceries. This will make the family an extra income and Juan will be able to continue working hard to realize his biggest dream: to own a large general store and support his family.
