John began his start-up business, Pro 1 Stop less than six months ago. The mechanic is trained to diagnose and service many vehicles from minor to major issues. Before opening up his own business, John worked for other mechanic shops around the Little Rock area.

One day, a friend, an Accion Texas Inc. employee referred John to Accion to inquire about applying for a small business loan. John proceeded to submit his application and was approved for $5,450. The Accion loan allowed John to purchase new tools to service vehicles and reach his goal of opening up his own business. John says: “Without the loan, it would have taken longer to reach my goal.” Some of Pro 1’s services include oil changes, tune-ups and regular maintenance for most vehicles.

The updated equipment and tools allowed John to service vehicles more efficiently and build a clientele to jump start his business. He is the sole employee of the company and does not have plans to hire additional help at the moment, but plans to expand in the future.
