A loan of $200 helped to buy a sewing machine.

Maria Del Pilar's story

María, 35, lives in the city of Imperial, which has a warm and welcoming climate and where agriculture flourishes, especially apple, corn, bean, and other crops. María's a young woman with a lot of goals because she's the single mother of a young daughter, 4, whom she adores. She strives a lot every day to be able to give her daughter a decent life so she can be an honorable person.

María works every day as a domestic employee. She cleans and sometimes cooks. She gets her daughter ahead with the fruit of her labor despite the adversities and problems that come up. María believes she's getting ahead because she's very responsible and above all because she's honest.

María's very grateful to the Kiva lenders because thanks to their help she'll be able to buy a sewing machine to improve her small business making and mending clothing. This way she'll have an extra income to continue striving to make her biggest dream a reality: "To give her daughter a profession and have a big tailoring business."
