Elia Rosa

A loan of $425 helped to buy an industrial sewing machine, fabric, buttons, thread, and supplies for producing shirts, pants, and dresses for women.

Elia Rosa's story

62-year-old Elia is a great clothing manufacturer who lives in the southwest of the city. She has 40 years of experience in sewing clothing, a job that she learned from her mother and for which she expressed great inclination. Because of this, in the year 1972 she began her own business adventure in an empirical manner, both in business and technical knowledge.

Elia carries out all the operations of dressmaking in her workshop from 7:00 in the morning to 7:00 at night. The clothing styles for women include blouses, dresses, and shirts; and pants for men. She makes her sales by credit and cash only, and her main market is located in the neighborhood where she lives and in its vicinity.

She has a goal, and that is to have good technical infrastructure and to increase production. This is the reason for which she turned to a Kiva loan, the first financing that she has had from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. Through this she will buy an industrial sewing machine, fabric, buttons, thread, and supplies for making shirts, pants, and dresses for women; and achieve her main goal and continue having many more dreams of prosperity and progress for herself and her family from the success of Kiva credit.
