A loan of $725 helped a member to purchase millet and sugar to make porridges, such as 'thiakry', and juice drinks to sell to her customers.

Jappale Sor Daga 1 Group's story

Living in the same district, 3 women and 2 men have formed a loan group to request support from the microfinance institution U-IMCEC for increasing their working capital. This loan group is: JAPPALE SOR DAGA 1. Their president, Ms. Astou, purchases millet and sugar to make porridges, such as 'thiakry', and juice drinks that she sells to her customers. She goes door to door and counts as her customers the inhabitants of her district and neighborhood. She is married and helps cover family expenses. She is 53 years old and has five children, of whom the oldest is 16 years old, and the youngest is 5. Astou loves her work and has thirty years of experience in this domain. She has always dreamed of becoming a major merchant who would travel the world over. In the meanwhile, she would like very much to open a stall, where she will display her food products and stay in one place, given her age.

In this group: Astou , Awa , Mbène , Mansour, Nogaye
