William is a 58-year-old married man with 10 children. Currently four of his children attend school. William is a farmer mainly involved in rearing cattle, and growing maize and bananas, when it is the season, for both commercial and home consumption. He has been involved in agriculture since 1973 and this is his major source of income with which he looks after his family.

William has applied for a loan of 2,000,000 UGX to get workers who will clear his farm so that he can expand it, and also to buy at least one exotic cow which can produce more milk. He wants to expand the farm and start adding cross breed animals into it as they are more income-generating in terms of milk production.

William's major challenge is limited space. To expand his farm he requires a lot more money to buy more land. Secondly, his animals are always affected by some diseases because at times he doesn't have money to buy their drugs. He is a hard working man.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of UGAFODE's program for clients who live in isolated rural areas with limited access to financial services. Uniquely, UGAFODE focuses its efforts on agricultural areas in Uganda that are over 50 km from their branches, providing loans to both groups and individual borrowers. The organization believes that the risk of offering services to remote clients is outweighed by the benefits to customers and their often underserved communities.
