Maisom's Group's story

Originally from Sampov Meas district of Pursat Province, Maisom is 38 years old and the mother of one child who attends a local school. She earns a living by raising and selling fish while her husband drives motor-taxi to supplement the family’s income. She has been in her current business for 10 years, and earns about 20,200 KHR a day. She has taken out and repaid six previous loans from Kiva partner VisionFund, and has used these loans to successfully expand her business. She now leads a four-person loan group, and will use her portion of this loan to buy more fish to raise and sell. She hopes to earn enough money to start another business and earn additional income.
