A loan of $575 helped a member to buy fertilizer and gasoline for her hand-tractor to plow her farmland.

Phea's Group's story

One of a breadwinner in a family consisting of three kids who are still in school, Phea is 32 years old and a villager from the Moung Russey district of Battambang province. She manages four hectares of a rice farm as her main source of income. She has been involved in this business for several years, and is able to earn up to 14,300 KHR per day. This is not the first loan for Phea with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She repaid the previous loan with success, and has improved her living conditions in a good place. Now she and a joint member are seeking a new loan of 1,300,000 KHR and 1,000,000 KHR, respectively. As the leader, she will spend her loan portion to buy fertilizer, and to buy gasoline for her hand-tractor for plowing her farmland. She hopes this purchase will help her to grow her rice effectively, and it will sell at a high price so she can triple her income.
