Seng is a 50-year-old mother of six children. She lives in the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province.

Seng grows rice on three hectares of farmland. During their free time, her husband also works for others for a fee to supplement the family’s income. Seng has owned this business for three years.

This is Seng's second loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Her previous loan, which she has completely repaid, has helped her to earn a better income to sustain her living conditions. Seng is now requesting a new loan of 1,000,000 KHR. She will use her loan to buy five sacks of potash and to pay for plowing fees for her farmland. She hopes that she can make more profits, so that she can save some money for when she gets old.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
