Lucia Fredesvinda's story

Lucía is 47 and lives in the town of Ica, in the Santiago district, with her husband and their five children, whom she loves and who are her main reason for living. She is a very nice, hard-working, enthusiastic person, who, together with her husband, does her utmost to make her family's life better. Unfortunately, due to her lack of financial resources and the fact that she had to start working at a very young age to help her parents, Lucía was not able to complete her studies in order to learn a profession. In her spare time, she likes to watch television, and she sometimes cooks a delicious duck-and-rice dish called 'arroz con pato', which she shares with her family. On her own initiative, and with lots of effort and dedication, Lucía works as a farm hand for an agricultural cooperative in her town. She sows, reaps, waters, and does other such tasks. She works about ten hours a day and attributes her success to her hard work and her amiability towards other people. She is very grateful to Kiva lenders, since, thanks to their help, she will be able to buy various types of groceries and drinks, which she will use to open a convenience store. Thus, with the help of her sons, she will be able to both work and tend to the shop, in order to increase her income and make her greatest dream, that of being able to afford a good education for her sons, come true.
