A loan helped to purchase fertilizers and manure to maintain her coffee crops.

Doris Suyapa's story

Doris is a 39-year-old woman who finished grade three. She and her husband cultivate coffee. They have two children; the eldest is in school and the youngest is too young for school. In their home it is just the four of them: Doris, her two children, and her husband. They are the only people who work their land. They have been cultivating coffee for over 15 years. Their parents taught them to work the land. Agriculture (coffee cultivation) has been their only source of income for many years. The land they work is their own, an inheritance from her husband's parents. It is located one kilometre from their home, and they travel to it on foot together.
Doris is requesting a loan from COMIXMUL for the purchase of fertilizers and manure for her coffee crops. This is necessary to keep the plants healthy and to get the most out of the production.
Her plans for the future are to be able to expand her crops in order to generate more income for her household, and thus to be able to reach her dream as a mother: to see her children in a better economic position, with a better lifestyle and with an excellent education.
