A loan of $400 helped to buy fertilizer, manure, herbicides, and pesticides.

Santos Francisca's story

Santos is 26 and lives with her family (her children: a daughter, age 7, and a son, age 2). Her husband emigrated to the United States for a better quality of life. Santos knows how to do housework, but even as a child she helped her father to plant and harvest corn; in the are where her father lives, people plant corn. Today Santos hires labourers to help her because her husband is not there. She gets her supplies from the closest village, which is 15 kilometres from her home. This loan which she is requesting from Fundacion Campo is for the purchase of fertilizers, manure, herbicides, and pesticides for the cultivation of 14,000 square metres of corn. This loan will be a great help because it will cover a need. She does not have the money to start planting, and planting season is approaching. She wants to have a better income for her family. She will be able to sell the weeds that are left over to people who have livestock, and this will provide her with another source of income.
