El señor Jose Maria esta unido de hecho con su esposa, tiene 54 años de edad, no tuvo la oportunidad de estudiar ya que sus padres eran de escasos recursos económicos, tiene 4 hijos y 2 de ellos estan estudiando, él se dedica al cultivo de maíz, inició este negocio sembrando unas plantitas de milpa y hasta la fecha lleva 10 años de experiencia, cuenta con el apoyo de su esposa.

Decide organizar un grupo para poder solicitar un préstamo que le servirá para la compra de fertilizante para su cultivo de maíz, en el futuro desea tener más terreno para poder sembrar no solo maíz sino también café, ya que es una cosecha que deja buenas ganancias; los demás integrantes del grupo se dedican a la siembra de maíz y café.

ASDIR (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Rural - Association for the Development of Rural Communities) is a community-based organization that works to promote development in the villages and communities where it serves. It was founded in 1999 in the village of Nimasac, Totonicapán Department, by a handful of local men and women to support community projects and group loans. Today ASDIR has 5 offices across 3 departments (Totonicapán, Sololá and Suchitepéquez) serving more than 6,000 clients, most of them in rural communities.
