Mukue's story

Mukue, a hardworking 46-year-old farming at the slopes of Mau forest in Narok county, Kenya, is married and has five children aged 15, 13, 10, 8 and 5 years of age. He has been growing wheat for the last 12 years, making a monthly income of Kes 50,000.

Mukue is taking his fourth loan of Kes 50,000 to hire a tractor for ploughing. He also intends to purchase more wheat seedlings. The area enjoys two seasons per year and hence is an environment very conducive to agriculture. He will use the proceeds to repay his loan as well as meet his family's basic needs.

Mukue's dream is to expand his business so that it becomes a highly profitable commercial venture.
