Saiah's story

Saiah is 35 years old, and lives in Montserrado County, which has the largest free port and is the number one commercial county in Liberia. She is married and has two children ages 3 and 6 who live at home and are in school.

Saiah was unable to attend school, but she is good at managing her business. She describes herself as very hard-working woman. For the past ten years she has been selling rice, charcoal, oil, etc from a table in the local market; she started this business with money given to her by her husband, who sells charcoal by the bag.

She enjoys her business because it gives her more money. She sells six days a week, from 8 am to 5 pm, and most of the time she uses a bus to get the goods for her table.

She is requesting a loan to purchase more rice, bitter ball (a vegetable), oil, okra, etc. for her business. Her plans are to build a house and educate her children.
