Coumba's Group's story

This group is composed of six women who live in the same district. The group is on its tenth loan. The women all work in commerce. Coumba is the group's representative. She is 48 years old, married, and the mother of eight, including four boys. The oldest is 30 years old, and the youngest is 19.

Coumba does commerce in fish. She lives very close to her mother and has been in this business for over twenty years. With her loan, she intends to purchase a case of fish at 250,000 francs and 20,000 francs of ice. She purchases her fish at the fishing pier and goes to the capital to sell it. She has no problem turning over her merchandise because she has a good reputation for selling quality fish, and she has many customers in other cities.

With her profits, she was successful in purchasing a plot of land. She also supports her husband in covering family expenses (food, schooling costs, etc.) She also supports her children investing in the clothing trade by buying them a sewing machine.
