A loan of $925 helped a member to buy rice seed and to pay plowing fees.

Saren's Group's story

A mother of two kids—one of whom is in school, Saren is 45 years old and a villager from Kampong Cham province. She supports the daily cost of living for herself and her family by growing rice on one hectare of land. She has been engaged in this business for 25 years and supports her family by generating about 33,900 KHR per day. This is the first micro-loan for Saren with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Now, she leads a group consisting of four female members including her. She and two other members are seeking for 1,000,000 KHR each whereas a remaining member is applying for 700,000 KHR. Saren will spend her loan portion to buy rice seed and to pay plowing fees. She hopes that this purchase will enable her to make more income and to expand her business better than before.
