Sophal's story

Mrs. Sophea K., 21, and her husband, Mr. Saran Chheang, 24, live on an Island of MeK. River about fifteen kilometers from Phnom Penh. They were married in 2004 and have two sons.

Mrs. Sophea has been a silk weaver since she was sixteen years old, a skill she learned from her mother, while Mr. Saran has been a silk weaver since he was married. The couple sells their finished products to the middleman in the village, who then takes them to sell in Phnom Penh.

Sophea is requesting a loan of $500 to purchase silk materials for her weaving business.
