A loan of $400 helped to buy manure, fertilizers, and seed to sow beans.

Edwin Antonio's story

23 year old Edwin is single and lives in the El Jazmín region. He is a farmer and grows staple grains. He began working in the fields with his brother when he was 10 years old as it is the tradition that children learn to farm from a very early age and put food on the table and cover other necessities. He currently grows beans and corn and also raises livestock on a small scale. During the summer, he goes to work in Costa Rica, clearing land and cutting coffee and this enables him to get capital to invest in his crops. He hopes to get good produce to sell and to make an income that will enable him to invest and grow his harvest. He needs the loan to buy manure, fertilizers, and seeds to sow beans. His next goal is to sow 3 hectares of beans and pay back his loan.
