A loan of $550 helped to buy replacement parts and to perform vehicle maintenance.

Ermogenes's story

Ermógenes, age 46, is married and has three children with whom he lives in his own house. His work is transporting passengers in his ‘mototaxi’ [three wheeled motorized vehicle]. He gets up very early in order to get ready and to out to different streets in the city looking for possible passengers who need transportation from one place to another.

Thanks to the 12 years that he has been doing this work, he has learned to know his customers, and he has gained the confidence of many of them. This allows him to have his private services requested as he is hired for long working hours. His charisma and joyfulness are his main tools for carrying out his day to day work and for relating better with his passengers.

What he likes about his business activity is that he is able to arrange his time because he mainly works during the times when there is the most public demand. It is going well for him because his mototaxi is his own, and he does not need to pay anyone to rent it.

His plan for the future is to buy two more mototaxis in order to increase his fleet of vehicles and to be able to rent them.

This is his third loan with Kiva. He is grateful to all of the people who make this loan possible. Therefore, he pledges to make his payments in a punctual manner. He will use the requested 1,500 soles to buy some parts and to send his mototaxi to the shop for some repairs to be made.
