Lili's story

Lili, 44 years old, is married to José, who is a trader. She lives with her husband and her four children, who are 21, 18, 13 and 7 years of age, respectively. Lili devotes herself to selling food products. She has a store that she established in her home where she graciously assists customers who are mainly her neighbors. She started more than five years ago with savings she had but now she considers her business to be very profitable since her products are very cost-effective.

Lili started her business, not because she had problems, but rather because she wanted to generate her own earnings and help her parents with household expenses. Consequently, upon seeing the good results that she is having, she wants to continue with her business and venture into another business selling clothing, since she has seen that it is also very profitable. Therefore, this will be her seventh loan from Kiva. She is happy knowing she will be able to rely on financial support in order to proceed with her business. With the sum of S/. 1,000 requested, she will purchase food products, such as rice, sugar and milk, among other items, in order to stock her grocery business.
