A loan of $2,425 helped a member to buy flour.

Famosas De Primavera Group's story

The communal bank "Famosas de primavera" will be initiating its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer. The group belongs to Pro Mujer's regional office in Villa Exaltación, consists of eight members, and is led by a governing board where Maria is the chairperson. The members of this group run several kinds of businesses, for example selling clothes and toasted snacks, sewing jackets and other garments, selling groceries, and running stores.

The loan they apply for will benefit small micro entrepreneurs, Maria being one. She says that this is the first time she works with Pro Mujer, she became a member after one of the institution's advisors came to her home and invited her to join. Currently she runs a grocery store which she opened on her own initiative using the savings of her family.

The loan she is applying for is for buying flour, which she will get at the markets in the city of El Alto and then sell in her store. This way of working helps her to generate resources to support her family, since she is married and has two children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the loans.

In this group: Maria Nelly, Claudina, Griselda , Maxima, Ovidia , Raquel, Rosmery, Isabel
