Martha's story

Martha is 38 years old and lives in the West point area, which has the most populated market in Montserrado County. She is living together with her fiancee who is a seller of clothes. They both have three children between the ages of 9 and 17. They are in school and live at home. She describes herself as a hardworking person, who completed 10th grade.

Due to some lack of home needs she decided to established a business to help support her home. For the past 12 years she has been going out of town to buy cassava, potatoes, etc to resell in Monrovia. She likes her business because of the variety of customers who buy from her. She started this business with money given to her by her friends. She uses the bus to get her goods to her spot. She is requesting a loan to purchase more cassava, potatoes, etc for her business. She plans to buy a pieces of land and build a house. She wants to say thanks to the lenders who support BRAC Liberia to enable small business people to increase their business volume.
