A loan of $400 helped to buy poultry feeds.

Irene's story

Irene is a second time borrower of UGAFODE Microfinance applying for 1,000,000 Ugandan shillings. She is a single mother who lives in the outskirts of the city with her three children. She has managed to look after them using the income she earns from her small business of selling foodstuffs and drinks that she operates in the neighborhood of her home. She supplements the income from the business with income from poultry that she does on a small scale. She is faced with a problem of limited capital that has always made her make fewer sales, thus leading to failure to meet some of her family's needs. She applied for the loan to buy poultry feeds so that she can begin selling the chicken and therefore, receive income to support her family. She has future hopes of educating her children through good schools and making sure they at least attain master's degrees.
