A loan of $800 helped to buy food, meat products and soft drinks.

Aminta's story

Aminta is 41 years old and owns a restaurant located in the town of Soledad, very close to Barranquilla, the main city of Atlántico department. For over 8 years, as a widow and with the need to support her 3 children, today aged from 14 to 19, she decided to start an income-generating activity for herself. For this reason, determined and supported by her family, she set to work with her own tools and managed to attract a group of contractors, who supported her in her productive progress.

She has specialized in catering to this sector, offering them cheap but delicious lunches, every day from Monday to Saturday. Each day, Aminta prepares the food, plates it up it and takes it to each building site, with whom she has contracted. She accepts cash for her sales and her biggest dream is to expand her business.

This is the reason she is requesting a loan from Kiva, which will be her second loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use the loan to buy wholesale goods including food, meat products and soft drinks thus getting discounts. The aim of all this is to move along the path towards prosperity and offer her family more and more wellbeing.
