Maa Laxmi Self Help Group's story

Maa Laxmi Self Help Group consists of 11 women from a village in Odisha. They formed a group to help themselves to share their problems and to solve their problems among them.

One of them is Mamata, who was selected as the President of Maa Laxmi Self Help Group. The lady standing third from the right-hand side in the photo is Mamata.

Mamata is 37 years old and is staying with her husband and her only child. Her child is in schooling. She hopes to see him as an officer in a company. She has a few acres of land in her village, and she is utilizing her land in sugarcane cultivation. Her husband is supporting her in this activity.

She has requested a loan of 132,000 INR, which will help her to purchase the required resources for sugarcane cultivation. She says a portion of the loan amount will help her to purchase sugarcane plants, fertilizers, and insecticides, and to cover operational expenses like labour charges.
