A loan of $675 helped a member to buy agricultural inputs and seeds.

Benkadi D Group's story

The members of the Benkadi D group are married women with an average age of 40 and, on average, 4 children, who all live in polygamous families in Fanidiama, one of the villages in Kadiolo, in the Sikasso region, the 3rd administrative region of Mali. They are collaborating with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution in order to carry out their farming activities during the rainy season. This is their 11th loan from the institution. Their previous loans have been correctly repaid.

Aminata Bintou, standing in the middle of the picture, grows groundnuts. She plans to use her loan to buy agricultural inputs and seeds needed for the cultivation of three quarters of a hectare of farmland. After the harvest, the produce is sold in the village and at the Sikasso market to a clientèle made up of men and women. She expects to make a profit of 75 000 francs per crop cycle. This profit will enable her to repay her loan and also to support her husband with the daily living expenses.
